WASHINGTON, Mar. 29, 2019 —King & Spalding’s Bobby Burchfield filed an amicus brief on behalf of U.S. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit. The case is Center for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (“CREW”) v. Federal Election Commission, No. 18-5261. The brief on behalf of Leader McConnell supports the appellant, Crossroads Grassroots Public Policy Strategies, which seeks reinstatement of an important F.E.C. disclosure regulation deemed invalid by the district court. This is at least the seventh brief Burchfield has filed on behalf of Senator McConnell over the years, including in McCutcheon v. FEC, 134 S.Ct. 1434 (2014), in which the Supreme Court granted him argument time to support Mr. McCutcheon.
Gabriel Krimm, Claudia Hrvatin, and Conor Daniels assisted with the brief.
