NEW YORK, Dec. 1, 2021 — King & Spalding has been shortlisted for the Financial Times Innovative Lawyers North America 2021 awards program in two categories:
- Innovation in the Business of Law: New Solutions: The firm’s life sciences and healthcare team created an innovative, membership-based working group model that leverages the common needs of market participants to their collective advantage. Industry members join the working groups, which focus on specific issues such as price transparency and other laws and regulations, for a fixed fee, giving them top-tier guidance at a predictable, attractive cost.
- Innovation in Social Justice: As part of the firm’s pro bono efforts, the firm organized around vindicating the rights of transgender people by taking on impact litigation addressing their access to healthcare and challenging laws that threaten their basic human and civil rights. Among its successes, the team achieved an unprecedented trial victory on behalf of transgender prisoners in Illinois seeking treatment for gender dysphoria in a case that will serve as a playbook for similar cases in other states.
FT Innovative Lawyers North America 2021 is a rankings report and awards program honoring law firms and lawyers for developing innovative solutions for the legal industry. The virtual awards ceremony will be held on Dec. 9, 2021 and the report will be published in the Financial Times on Dec. 10, 2021.
