King & Spalding’s Stephen Abreu Named to the National Black Lawyers – Top 100


PALO ALTO, Calif., April 23, 2015 — King & Spalding’s Stephen Abreu has been selected as a member of the National Black Lawyers – Top 100 Lawyers for 2015. Abreu, an associate in the Corporate Practice Group in Silicon Valley, was chosen for his intellectual property expertise.

The National Black Lawyers – Top 100 Lawyers is an invitation-only professional honorary organization composed of the top 100 black lawyers who serve individuals, families and businesses. The group’s mission is to promote excellence in the legal profession for the accomplished black attorneys in the U.S. through advocacy training, marketing, networking and education of lawyers.

Abreu, who was invited to join the Top 100 in March, advises biotechnology, medical device and digital health companies on a range of complex technology and commercial agreements such as strategic partnering and collaboration agreements, intellectual property licenses with both commercial businesses and academic institutions, manufacturing and supply agreements and software licenses. Abreu received his Master’s degree in molecular biology from the University of California-Santa Cruz, and his J.D. from the University of California-Davis School of Law, where he externed for the U.C. Davis Office of Technology Transfer and was president of the King Hall Intellectual Property Law Association and the Black Law Students Association. He received the Sidney B. Williams Intellectual Property Scholarship, administered by the American Intellectual Property Law Association, in 2006.

Abreu also teaches intellectual property transactions as an adjunct professor at the U.C. Davis School of Law. He is a board member of For People of Color, Inc., an organization that provides free law school admissions consulting services to prospective law school applicants.
