King & Spalding Ranked Among ‘Best Places to Work for LGBT Equality’ For Third Consecutive Year

WASHINGTON, Nov. 23, 2015 — For the third consecutive year, King & Spalding earned a top score of 100 percent in the Human Rights Campaign’s Corporate Equality Index (CEI), a national benchmarking survey on corporate practices related to lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) workplace equality. With its score, King & Spalding retains the coveted distinction of being one of the “Best Places to Work for LGBT Equality.”

The CEI annually surveys the nation’s largest publicly traded businesses, privately owned companies and top revenue-grossing law firms, and has been conducted since 2002 by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation. The survey evaluates companies’ LGBT-related policies and practices including non-discrimination workplace protections, domestic partner benefits, transgender-inclusive health care benefits, competency programs and public engagement with the LGBT community.

“In this 2016 Corporate Equality Index, hundreds of major businesses responded to our new standards for workplace equality with exceptional leadership,” said HRC Foundation Workplace Equality Program Director Deena Fidas. “King & Spalding not only meets these standards, it goes above and beyond the call of duty, making commitment to equality a fundamental aspect of its corporate values.”

“We appreciate this recognition by the Human Rights Campaign,” said Samuel M. Matchett, partner and chair of the diversity committee at King & Spalding. “It is an honor to receive this award again this year.”

The Human Rights Campaign is America’s largest civil rights organization working to achieve lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender equality. By inspiring and engaging all Americans, HRC strives to end discrimination against LGBT citizens and realize a nation that achieves fundamental fairness and equality for all.
