King & Spalding Names New Managing Partners in Three Offices

NEW YORK, Jan. 10, 2018 — King & Spalding has named new managing partners for three of its offices, in Washington, D.C., London and Charlotte.

In Washington, Mark Jensen assumes this responsibility, taking over for Wick Sollers, who held the role for 16 years. Thomas Sprange, QC, has taken over for Garry Pegg, who served in this role for seven years in London, and Mark Thigpen has done the same in Charlotte, following Todd Holleman’s five years as office managing partner there.

“I want to extend my sincere thanks to Wick, Garry and Todd on behalf of the respective offices and the firm for their long and tireless service,” said King & Spalding Chairman Robert D. Hays. “We have benefited greatly from their leadership and know they will support the new incumbents to continue the firm’s growth and presence in these critical markets.”

Mark Jensen / Washington, D.C.
Jensen specializes in high-profile investigations, white-collar litigation for companies and individuals, regulatory enforcement actions, internal reviews and compliance counseling. As a Special Matters and Government Investigations partner, Jensen’s practice has been nationally acclaimed, and he has been widely recognized for the positive results he obtains for an array of clients in criminal and civil cases, including governmental investigations, prosecutions and False Claims Act civil litigation.

King & Spalding’s Washington, D.C., office opened in 1979, and now—with over 200 lawyers and professional consultants across 15 litigation, regulatory and transactional practice groups—helps clients navigate the full range of U.S. and global disputes, regulations and business transactional issues.

Thomas Sprange, QC / London
Sprange provides advocacy and strategic advice in significant, high-value and complex commercial disputes. A partner in King & Spalding’s International Arbitration and Litigation practice, he represents clients in a wide range of international disputes under local, private and public international law. In 2015, Sprange was appointed Queen’s Counsel (QC). He is presently acting for Motorola in its $2 billion fraud claim against the Uzan family, for Reliance in claims against the Government of India and in the Iraq v. Turkey pipeline dispute.

King & Spalding’s London office was the firm’s first international office when it opened in 2003 and currently employs around 50 lawyers focusing on transactional and dispute resolution matters.

Mark Thigpen / Charlotte
Thigpen specializes in representing private equity clients, public companies and privately held companies in a variety of matters relating to their real estate, infrastructure and other real asset investments. A partner in the firm’s real estate market team, he counsels private equity investors, institutional investors, and public and private operating companies in all aspects of their real estate and real assets businesses. Recently, Mark advised Transwestern Investment Group in a series of transactions involving the acquisition and leaseback of State Farm Insurance Company’s critical corporate hubs in Dallas, Phoenix and Atlanta; these transactions had a combined value of over $2.5 billion and involved multiple joint ventures with foreign and domestic equity sources as well as debt financing.

In 2017, King & Spalding’s Charlotte office celebrated its 10th anniversary and also changed location in November to a new, 25-story office tower at 300 South Tryon. The 35 lawyers in the Charlotte office focus primarily on supporting the firm’s financial institutional clients.
