TOKYO, April 14, 2020 — Marine Money magazine has honored King & Spalding for its work representing MODEC in a transaction that garnered the Offshore Innovation Deal of the Year honor in its 2019 Deal of the Year Awards issue.
King & Spalding helped advise offshore floating platform operator MODEC issue notes worth US$1.1 billion to refinance an offloading unit in Brazil. According to the publication, the deal was the first-ever for a project bond that will open a “greatly needed pool of capital that will facilitate the next cycle of industry investment.” The King & Spalding team on the deal was led by partners John McClenahan and Mark Davies, counsel Kevin Manz, and associates Katie Weiss, Jonathan Wang, Rami Mosrie, and Adrian Karas.
