DUBAI, Jan. 22, 2020 — Islamic Finance News (IFN) has honored King & Spalding for its work representing NMG Workspace Solutions in a transaction that IFN named its “Most Innovative Deal of the Year” for 2019.
King & Spalding advised NMG on a Sukuk Mudarabah deal that was designed to give NMG, as a Sukuk investor, an economic interest to support Modern Era Management Co.’s acquisition of a 50% stake in Jeel Al Idara Al Hadeetha Tijara Co, a Saudi operating company, without having to hold shares in the company directly. The unique structure provided NMG certain tax efficiencies and the ability to invest in a sector that is challenging for foreign investors in Saudi Arabia. The King & Spalding team on the deal was led by partners Nabil Issa and Mike Rainey and were assisted by Bader Al-Ammar and Saud Aldawsari.
