King & Spalding Advises Client in U.S. Climate Change Tort Litigation


King & Spalding is representing an energy company in a spate of U.S. climate change tort litigation brought by local governments seeking to hold fossil-fuel companies responsible for global climate change.  The governments, including those in California, New York and Washington, are invoking state tort law, including broad theories of nuisance and product liability to seek potentially billions of dollars to “abate” the impacts of climate change.
