Energy Forum: Update on the Energy Sector in Mexico and Colombia – What’s Next

On July 20, 2022, the United States requested consultations with Mexico under the Dispute Settlement chapter of the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA), arguing that several of Mexico’s energy policies are inconsistent with the USMCA. This State-to-State proceeding, and the way in which Mexico reacts will have broad implications for energy investors and their operations in Mexico.

In Colombia, there will soon be a new platform and policies from President Petro that will reshape the landscape in the energy sector, including oil and gas, and renewable energy projects.

Join King & Spalding and industry experts for our Energy Forum, Energy Investments in Mexico and Colombia – What’s Next, as we discuss some of the major challenges and opportunities pertinent today to energy investments in Mexico and Colombia. The half-day forum will feature a keynote address from Tony Payan, Director of the Center for the United States and Mexico at Rice University’s Baker Institute for Public Policy and views from Juan Carlos Echeverry, Former President of Ecopetrol, and Former Finance Minister in Colombia, now consultant at GlobalSource Partners.
