In recent years, we have witnessed the emergence of LNG as a fuel supply source for new power generation facilities in many jurisdictions in Asia. Some of these jurisdictions are importing, or are planning to import, LNG for the first time and are facing the challenges associated with developing necessary LNG-related infrastructure. The introduction of LNG into the fuel mix, potentially alongside, or as a replacement for, domestic gas supplies and alternative sources of energy, presents issues from a commercial, regulatory and policy perspective. The alignment of each individual project across the full gas and LNG value chain is critical.
The seminar will focus on lessons learned from LNG-to-Power projects in the region: we will analyse the development and financing considerations that are relevant to LNG procurement, LNG regasification and power generation and how the underlying projects can be structured to maximise the chances of success.
