Best Lawyers Names Leissner, Schäfer, Schilder Among Germany’s Leading Lawyers

FRANKFURT, June 26, 2017 — In its 2018 edition, Best Lawyers has recognized King & Spalding partners Mario Leissner, Jan Schäfer and Axel Schilder as among the leading attorneys in Germany.

Leissner, managing partner of King & Spalding’s Frankfurt office, was recognized in Best Lawyers’ real estate category. Schäfer was listed in the international arbitration; arbitration and mediation; and litigation categories, and Schilder was recognized for tax expertise.

Leissner is a member of the firm’s Capital Transactions & Real Estate Practice Group. With 20 years of experience, he specializes in fund structuring, regulatory and investment law, and international and German real estate transactions. His practice also involves corporate and financing work as well as litigation and international taxation.

Schäfer’s practice focuses on complex cross-border disputes, including post-M&A, joint-venture, distribution, sales and license arbitration and litigation matters as well as foreign investment, construction and energy-related disputes for German and foreign clients. He has substantial trial experience and has been appearing as counsel and advocate for 15 years before German courts at first and second instance levels as well as before domestic and international arbitral tribunals. He has acted as an arbitrator in some 50 cases.

With over 18 years of experience as lawyer, tax advisor and tax officer with the German tax authorities, Schilder focuses his practice on international and German tax structuring, fund formation, including all aspects of investment tax law and real estate transactions including respective financing structures.
