Benchmark Names Four King & Spalding Partners to List of Top 250 Women in Litigation

NEW YORK, Aug. 1, 2017 — Benchmark Litigation has named King & Spalding partners Dixie Johnson, Carmen Lawrence, Tracie Renfroe and Chilton Davis Varner to its list of the Top 250 Women in Litigation, which honors the achievements of female litigators across the United States. All four lawyers have been selected for inclusion in the prestigious list since its inception in 2012.

Johnson is a partner in the firm’s Special Matters and Investigations practice group and co-leads the firm’s Securities Enforcement and Regulation practice. Benchmark noted that “she is noted for her high success rate on behalf of her clients.” Johnson has over 30 years of experience in representing public companies, financial institutions, investment managers, broker-dealers, public accounting firms, boards of directors and boards of trustees, law firms, corporate officers and others. She is widely recognized as a legal industry leader in securities enforcement, regulatory compliance, corporate governance and crisis management.

Lawrence is also a partner in the firm’s Special Matters and Investigations practice group and co-leads the firm’s Securities Enforcement and Regulation practice with Johnson. As former regional director for the Securities and Exchange Commission’s Northeast Regional Office (covering 14 states and the District of Columbia), Lawrence oversaw all enforcement and regulatory operations in the agency’s largest region. Some of the SEC’s most significant cases were brought by the Northeast Regional Office under her leadership.

Renfroe has a national trial practice focusing on toxic tort, environmental, product liability and commercial disputes. As managing partner of King & Spalding’s Houston office and a partner in the Energy, Environmental and Product Liability practices, Renfroe represents clients in the energy and manufacturing sectors around the country.

Varner focuses on product liability, business torts, contract and other commercial disputes. As a partner in King & Spalding’s Mass Tort and Toxic Tort practice, she defends corporate clients in a range of commercial litigation. With 30 years of experience as a trial lawyer, Varner represents clients in mass tort litigation, class actions and multi-district litigation. She has served as trial and appellate counsel for a number of the country’s largest pharmaceutical, medical device and automotive manufacturers.
