The European Union’s vaccine chief, Thierry Breton, has unveiled a Covid-19 passport, in the hope that it will facilitate a boost for tourism on the continent this summer. The ‘health pass’ will have a QRcode and include data on vaccination date and type, as well as whether a person has already been infected with Covid-19. Airlines and public venues are thought to be some of the organisations that will be able to request the passes, although it is not expected they will be mandatory. Instead, people without the health pass will be asked to present a negative Covid-19 test.
