During the March 24, 2021 White House COVID-19 Response Team press briefing, Andy Slavitt, Senior Advisor to the COVID Response Coordinator, provided updates on the vaccination rollout. 84 million people have received at least one vaccination dose. 45 million people have been fully vaccinated.
Dr. Rochelle Walensky, Director, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and Dr. Anthony Fauci, Director, National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, National Institutes of Health, discussed studies released by the New England Journal of Medicine this week which compared infection rates of non-vaccinated, partially vaccinated, and fully vaccinated healthcare workers. The first study analyzed employees at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. The second study is from California. The studies found a dramatic decrease in infection rate among fully vaccinated workers.
