On Monday, Pfizer and BioNTech announced that the European Union (EU) will exercise its option to secure an additional 100 million Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine doses under the Advanced Purchase Agreement signed in February. After the announcement, Sean Marett, Chief Business and Chief Commercial Officer of BioNTech, said that the drug companies will supply the EU with 600 million doses by the end of the year, which “covers two thirds of the EU population.”
