ATLANTA, March 10, 2009—DeKalb County, Georgia-based Women’s Resource Center to End Domestic Violence will present its inaugural Judge Clarence F. Seeliger Local Justice Award to three King & Spalding lawyers at its annual Champion for Change luncheon at Twelve Atlantic Station, in midtown Atlanta, on May 7. The King & Spalding lawyers were selected for their pro bono work in helping a Malawian citizen who immigrated to Tanzania and then to the United States, where she encountered personal violence in both countries, obtain asylum in the United States. The award recipients are pro bono partner William Hoffmann and associates Frederica (Joy) White and Michael L. Weiss.
King & Spalding partner Suzanne C. Feese is serving as chair of the annual luncheon.

The Women’s Resource Center to End Domestic Violence has been an outspoken advocate for survivors of domestic violence since 1986. Its mission is to create a society in which domestic violence no longer exists. The organization strives to meet the immediate needs of the diverse community of battered women and their children by providing emergency shelter and services, while working to change the systems that uphold violence.
