09 Nov 2004

WASHINGTON, D.C. and NEW YORK, November 9, 2004 - King & Spalding LLP, a leading international law firm, announced today that The YWCA of the City of New York has selected Eleanor J. Hill, a partner in the firm's Washington, D.C. office, for induction into its Academy of Women Achievers. The academy is a distinguished group of the country's most prominent women recognized for their outstanding professional accomplishments.

"We congratulate Eleanor on her selection by the YWCA for this special recognition and are proud of the significant contributions she has made to help improve the security of our nation," said Walter W. Driver, Jr., chairman of King & Spalding. "We also applaud the YWCA for the important work they do to improve the lives of women and girls, and we are pleased to share their vision for empowering women in the workplace."

The YWCA and King & Spalding will honor Hill for her outstanding achievements at the YWCA's 31st Annual Salute to Women Leaders Lunch on Tuesday, November 9th. The luncheon was introduced in 1974 to honor trailblazing women in business and today is one of the most visible and important tributes to executive women in the nation.

Hill has held several leadership roles key to maintaining the security of our nation. In 2002, the House and Senate Intelligence Committees selected her to lead Congress's review of the intelligence community's knowledge of terrorist activity prior to 9/11. She has also served as Inspector General for the U.S. Department of Defense. Today, she is a partner in King & Spalding's Special Matters/Government Investigations Group, where her practice focuses on homeland security, corporate investigations and congressional investigations.

The Academy of Women Achievers was created by the YWCA-NYC to encourage corporations as well as labor, professional, nonprofit and government organizations to recognize their women achievers. The Academy's more than 3,000 members are a testament to the power of women in the workplace and the commitment of corporations and diverse organizations to promote and honor outstanding women.
