Description:

This month's program will provide an introduction to arbitration as a tool to resolve international disputes. Specific topics to be addressed include:

  • Why is arbitration important and useful?
  • How not to draft an international arbitration clause.
  • How is it different from litigation or domestic arbitration? How does an international arbitration work?
  • The special case of investment treaty disputes.

This program will be of interest to outside counsel, corporate counsel, and corporate officials in supervisory and management roles who are likely to be responsible for: negotiating or drafting supply contracts, M&A agreements, JV agreements and other agreements involving cross-boarder transactions; international litigation; and overseeing, directing or implementing overseas investments who do not have substantial experience with international arbitration.
