Tim Goodwin is a partner in King & Spalding’s Capital Transactions and Real Estate Practice Group, rated the top tier Atlanta-based Real Estate practice by Chambers USA. Mr. Goodwin handles structuring and formation of investment funds, strategic and asset-specific ventures, financing, acquisitions and sales, recapitalizations, development, construction and leasing. He also has experience in dealing with REITs and tax-exempt pension fund investors, often requiring complex tax and ERISA structuring. He has represented clients such as Morgan Stanley, AMLI Residential, Bentall Kennedy, Brookdale Realty Group, Goddard Investment Group, Weeks Robinson Properties, Safeguard Storage Properties, and AREA’s VEF Advisors. Mr. Goodwin also worked with a team of King & Spalding lawyers who represented the Atlanta Committee for the Olympic Games in its $1.7 billion effort to prepare for and conduct the 1996 Summer Olympics.
Mr. Goodwin received his B.A., summa cum laude, in history from Boston College in 1987 where he graduated Phi Beta Kappa and Scholar of the College. He received his J.D. with distinction from Emory Law School in 1990 as a Robert W. Woodruff Fellow. He was elected a member of the Order of the Coif and the Emory Law Journal where he was a Notes & Comments Editor. Mr. Goodwin is a member of the Georgia State Bar and its Real Property Section, the Atlanta Bar Association, the New York State Bar Association, the Connecticut State Bar and the American Bar Association. Mr. Goodwin has been recognized by Chambers USA, The Legal 500 U.S. and Atlanta magazine as one of Georgia’s leading Real Estate attorneys.
