Sara Peters recently returned to King & Spalding after working for several years for both the United States Senate and House of Representatives. She is with the firm’s Tort and Environmental practice group in Washington, D.C. Ms. Peters focuses on environmental, health, and safety (EHS) work and counsels and defends clients globally in the energy, transportation, chemical, petro-chemical, pharmaceutical and commercial product industries.
Ms. Peters served as majority staff for the House Committee on Appropriations, where she was responsible for the budgets of the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), National Highway Traffic Administration (NHTSA), Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA), Federal Motor Carrier Administration (FMCSA), and housing and economic development programs. Prior to that, she served as Legislative Counsel to Senator Thad Cochran (R-MS), advising him on budget, tax, banking, judiciary, and trade matters, as well as constitutional law and Senate ethics.
