Sara Peters advises clients on compliance with environmental, health, and safety (EHS) regulations and laws in the oil and gas, mining, chemical, petro-chemical, transportation, and commercial product industries. She specializes in midstream transportation safety, including hazardous materials transport and pipeline safety compliance. Sara also advises clients in internal investigations, litigation, and regulatory proceedings involving EHS issues, including working with scientific and technical experts to assess and mitigate risks. She is with the firm’s Tort and Environmental practice group in Washington, D.C.
Sara previously served as majority staff for the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Appropriations, where she was responsible for the programmatic budgets of the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA), National Highway Traffic Administration (NHTSA), Federal Motor Carrier Administration (FMCSA), and Federal Highway Administration (FHWA). She also served as Legislative Counsel to U.S. Senator Thad Cochran (R-MS), the former Ranking Member on Appropriations.
