Lisa Albert is an associate in the firm's New York office and a member of the Litigation Practice Group. She currently serves on the firm's Community Involvement Committee. Since joining the firm in 1999, she has worked on a variety of complex commercial litigation matters and has experience with securities class action defense, international arbitration, NASD arbitration, SEC investigations and proceedings, business tort litigation and energy-related litigation, including:

  • Defending the former Chairman and CEO of large, international corporation in (1) a securities class action brought on behalf of shareholders claiming multi-billion dollar damages from alleged fraudulent financial statements and public disclosures about the company's finances and (2) an action alleging fraud and breach of contract arising out of complex merger transaction involving multiple parties and interests in excess of $1 billion;

  • Representing the former Chairman and CEO of large, international corporation in an international arbitration concerning his multi-million dollar severance agreement with the company;

  • Defending large accounting firm in a securities class action claiming multi-million dollar damages in connection with allegedly fraudulent financial statements and public disclosures made by the accounting firm's client.

  • Representing a broker-dealer in an NASD arbitration involving an ECN fee dispute.

  • Defending the former CEO of a major U.S. retailer in a number of securities class actions and related litigations arising out of a dramatic decline in the company's stock price.

  • Representing an investment company in a multi-state series of actions regarding ownership rights to an investment pool of mortgages.

  • Representing operators of cogeneration facilities in various disputes arising out of relevant power sales contracts.
  • Representing a privately-held multinational corporation in disputes involving allegations of corporate espionage, theft of trade secrets, fraud and other business torts.

Ms. Albert graduated with distinction from Hofstra Law School in 1999 where she was a senior staff member of the Hofstra Law Review. She received her Bachelor of Arts, with distinction, in 1993 from Hofstra University.
