Chief Marketing Officer


Kevin Cavanaugh is the Chief Marketing Officer of King & Spalding. He is responsible for the firm’s business development, communications and branding functions globally and works with the Chairman, Chief Operating Officer and other King & Spalding leadership to chart the firm’s go-to-market strategy. Mr. Cavanaugh has more than 20 years of experience developing and leading marketing efforts in the legal, corporate and philanthropic sectors. He is based in the firm’s New York office.

Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Cavanaugh was the first Director of Communications and Public Affairs at the Helmsley Charitable Trust, a $5 billion private foundation at which he oversaw the launch of a range of communications and organizational initiatives. Previously, he led the marketing and business development functions of Davis Polk & Wardwell for more than a decade. In that role, he built a global team of professionals and helped to expand the firm’s capacity to strategically establish and cultivate client relationships in key business centers worldwide.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Cavanaugh was the Director of Communications at Winstar, a global telephone and broadband services provider, and he was a senior member of a New York-based marketing and communications firm, leading a variety of national accounts for technology and financial services companies.

Mr. Cavanaugh has spoken on marketing, business development and communications best practices and developments at law schools and industry conferences.

He holds a B.A. in Urban Studies from the College of Wooster in Wooster, OH.
