Dr. Drazen is an associate in the Intellectual Property Practice Group in the New York office. Dr. Drazen’s practice focuses on intellectual property issues in the areas of biotechnology and pharmaceuticals through the preparation and prosecution of U.S. and international patent applications. Dr. Drazen's practice also focuses on the preparation of patent validity and non-infringement opinions, client counseling, conducting due diligence analyses and patent litigation. Her practice encompasses a variety of technologies, including pharmaceutical compositions, neurobiology, immunology, molecular biology, bioinformatics, and cosmetics.
Prior to joining King & Spalding in 2006, Dr. Drazen was a Scientific Advisor at the intellectual property law firm, Morgan & Finnegan. Dr. Drazen received her J.D. (magna cum laude, Order of the Coif) from Fordham University School of Law, her B.A. (cum laude) in Biopsychology from Vassar College, and her M.A. and Ph.D. in Psychological and Brain Sciences from The Johns Hopkins University.
Dr. Drazen’s graduate work at Johns Hopkins focused on the interaction among the nervous, endocrine, and immune systems. After receiving her Ph.D., she conducted independent research as a postdoctoral fellow at the Genome Research Institute in Cincinnati, assessing the neural and genetic bases of the metabolic syndrome. Her research was funded by a National Research Service Award from the National Institutes of Health. Dr. Drazen has authored or co-authored more than 30 peer-reviewed scientific papers, as well as several book chapters, and has delivered scientific talks at numerous national and international conferences, funded by the National Institutes of Health and the National Science Foundation.
