Andy Charles is a partner in King & Spalding’s Capital Transactions and Real Estate Group. Mr. Charles’ experience extends to most aspects of commercial real estate law, including acquisitions and sales, partnership/joint ventures, financings on behalf of borrowers and lenders, leasing and development. His client base includes private equity funds, financial institutions, developers and operators in the acquisition, financing, development sale and leasing of all classes of commercial properties including, office, hotel, multi-family, retail, public storage and condominium properties. A substantial segment of Mr. Charles’ practice is focused on structuring transactions for institutional investors and opportunity funds including joint ventures, preferred equity investments, mezzanine financing and mixed debt/equity investments.
Mr. Charles received his B.A., magna cum laude, in political science from the University of Pennsylvania in 1983 where he graduated with honors from the College of Arts and Sciences. He received his J.D., cum laude, from Georgetown University Law Center in 1986. Mr. Charles is a member of the New York City Bar Association and is a member of the Lincoln Center Real Estate and Construction Council.
