King & Spalding’s Alan Prince Honored by Woodruff Arts Center


ATLANTA, July 10, 2014 — Alan J. Prince, managing partner of King & Spalding’s Atlanta office, has received the Charles R. Yates Award presented by the Woodruff Arts Center for his outstanding efforts as a member of the lead gift committee for large employers, which was part of the Center’s 2013-2014 annual campaign. The committee raised $4.3 million of the campaign’s nearly $9.7 million total, the most in the history of the Arts Center’s core fundraising initiative.

Named for a former Woodruff Arts Center president, the award recognizes business leaders who are dedicated to the Arts Center and have demonstrated excellence in fund-raising. Prince received the award at a June 19 appreciation celebration at the High Museum of Art.

“Everyone associated with the Woodruff Arts Center owes a heart-felt ‘thank you’ to those who made the annual campaign a record-breaking success,” said Virginia Hepner, president and chief executive officer of the Woodruff Arts Center. “Our volunteer leadership for the campaign, specifically including Alan Prince, did outstanding work in support of our art and education work this year.”

In addition to King & Spalding and its personnel making a record contribution of $176,000 to the 2013-2014 campaign, the firm has a long tradition of active participation in the Woodruff Arts Center:

  • Partner Jeffrey S. Cashdan is a member of its board of trustees
  • Cashdan was in charge of the Center’s recent Employees for the Arts Campaign at King & Spalding, along with Linda Parrish, the firm’s community affairs director
  • Partner James W. Boswell III is a member of the Center’s governing board and the board chair of its Arts  for Learning Partner Meghan H. Magruder serves on the board of directors of the Center’s Atlanta Symphony Orchestra
  • Partner Jack D. Capers, Jr., serves on the board of directors of the Center’s High Museum of Art
  • Retired partner Joseph R. Bankoff is a past CEO of the Woodruff Arts Center
