King & Spalding Recruits Corporate Partner Matt Jacobson to the New York Office

NEW YORK, August 25, 2014 — King & Spalding has recruited Matthew Jacobson as a partner in its corporate practice in the firm’s New York office.  Jacobson will divide his time between the firm’s New York and Silicon Valley offices working with clients and matters on the west coast. He joins King & Spalding from Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer.

“Matt’s experience representing global companies in M&A and other transactions in the technology, life sciences and energy sectors is a great fit for King & Spalding,” said Ray Baltz, leader of King & Spalding’s corporate practice group. “We are pleased to have Matt join the New York office where he will be working closely with our partners across the country and around the world.”

Most recently, Jacobson was co-head of Freshfields’ technology sector group and was jointly responsible for the strategy and the execution of business initiatives in this area. He joined Freshfields from Hewlett-Packard where he oversaw, among many other matters, the Compaq integration. Earlier in his career, Jacobson practiced in the Palo Alto office of Brobeck, Phleger & Harrison. He received a J.D. degree from the University of California Hastings College of the Law and a B.A. from Stanford University.

Jacobson said, “There is great momentum at King & Spalding and I am excited to be joining the firm. I look forward to working with all the partners, especially those in the California Silicon Valley office and in the healthcare/life sciences and energy groups.”

Jacobson is the fourth partner to join King & Spalding’s New York transactional practices in the past 10 months. He joins Matt Bromberg, Ellen Snare and Drew Chapman.
