backFRANKFURT, Nov. 15, 2023 — King & Spalding has received the 2023 Novartis “External Business Partners Award 2023” for “Excellence in Litigation”. The firm also received the Novartis Global Outside Counsel Award for “Excellence in Litigation Strategy” in 2019.
Novartis recognized the firm as part of a group of law firms for its joint litigation in different EU Member States and before the Court of Justice of the EU supporting Novartis’s efforts regarding parallel imports of medicinal products. Novartis successfully sued Danish parallel importer Abacus, arguing that its repackaging of medicinal products infringes Novartis’s trademark rights, even when taking into account the EU Falsified Medicines Directive.
The King & Spalding team acting for Novartis was led by Frankfurt partner Ulf Grundmann and counsel Elisabeth Kohoutek.
