King & Spalding Named Energy Advisory Firm of the Year by Petroleum Economist


LONDON, September 12, 2014 — King & Spalding was named “Energy Advisory Firm of the Year” at the prestigious Petroleum Economist Awards 2014, held in London on September 10.

King & Spalding was selected for the award by an independent panel of industry experts, including:

  • Abdalla El-Badri, Secretary General, OPEC
  • Lord Cullen of Whitekirk, KT
  • Torstein Indrebø, Secretary General, International Gas Union
  • Lord John Browne, Baron Brown of Madingley, former Chief Executive, BP

The judges were impressed by “the breadth of customer projects taken on by the firm and, in particular, its strong presence in LNG” as well as the expanding “global presence” of more than 250 energy lawyers in 17 offices worldwide. The judges also highlighted the firm’s lead roles on large LNG projects in Africa, including Damietta LNG in Egypt, Mozambique LNG and Tanzania LNG as well the firm’s strong energy disputes practice, headlined by the $500 million award against the Republic of Kazakhstan following the seizure of petroleum assets operated by Moldovan investors in the country.
