King & Spalding Counted Among the Top 10 U.S. Lobbying Practices

WASHINGTON, July 28, 2014 — For the third consecutive year, King & Spalding has been identified as one of the leading lobbying practices in the United States by the National Law Journal in its annual survey, the Influence 50. The results of the 2014 survey, based on 2013 lobbying revenue, were published in the newspaper’s July 28th edition.

The firm climbed one spot to 9th place in the survey. These results represent a continual year-over-year improvement since the firm’s impressive 2012 debut in the survey, in which King & Spalding’s No. 12 ranking was the highest spot ever for a new entrant.

The Influence 50 takes a comprehensive measurement of all fees related to lobbying. It includes revenues reported to Congress under the Lobbying Disclosure Act and the U.S. Department of Justice under the Foreign Agents Registration Act. It also asks firms to provide information about state and local lobbying done from Washington-area offices. Finally, it asks firms to report other related work, such as representation of clients before federal agencies or grassroots organizing.

“We are extremely pleased once again to be recognized by this survey and are grateful to our clients for giving us the opportunity to represent them,” said Thomas J. Spulak, leader of King & Spalding’s government advocacy and public policy practice, in Washington, D.C. “This ranking acknowledges the work of our D.C.-based lawyers and lobbyists—members of the firm’s FDA/life sciences, international trade, healthcare, intellectual property and financial services practices—who help our clients navigate the complex world of Washington. For the benefit of our clients, we’ve worked hard to establish synergies among these groups, and this recognition demonstrates the value of our collaborative approach.”

King & Spalding’s government advocacy and public policy practice provide a full range of services to assist its clients in managing their interactions with the federal government. The practice has been praised by Chambers USA for “bring[ing] value and a broad skill set, including strong advocacy abilities, to every engagement” and earned King & Spalding recognition as government relations “Law Firm of the Year” in the 2013 edition of U.S. News & World Report’s “Best Law Firm” survey.
