King & Spalding has a long-standing tradition of creating and nurturing a diverse, collaborative and inclusive environment within the firm and the legal profession. We welcome applications from experienced lawyers who bring their professional expertise to our practice and further our commitment to client service. Lateral hiring varies by practice group and office. Please click here to view our current lateral lawyer openings.
The partners, counsel, associates and recruiting professionals you will meet take pride in the firm. They will expect that you have taken the time to find out as much as possible about King & Spalding, the specific office and practice area in which you are interested and the individual lawyers with whom you will be interviewing. Our recruiting professionals make a special effort to arrange for you to meet with lawyers who can address your particular areas of interest. Your interview day presents the opportunity for you to learn about our lawyers and our practice, as well as for us to learn about you.
Most practice groups conduct initial screening interviews. This usually takes about an hour. During the next interview round, you will spend a half-day in our offices and meet other partners, counsel and associates from the practice group in which you are interested or from related practices. More senior applicants may be asked to interview in other offices with members of their potential new practice group.
We will assist out-of-town candidates in arranging travel and hotel accommodations for callback interviews. A member of the recruiting team will provide additional information to you on what expenses are appropriate to submit for reimbursement.
Offers are extended contingent upon the successful completion of our conflicts procedures, reference checks and background check. If you have an open offer, we encourage you to speak further with lawyers you have met during your decision-making process. Generally, we expect to receive your decision within two weeks.
If you accept an offer to join the firm, we will provide an array of opportunities to integrate you and your practice, including firm resource materials, orientation presentations and practice support to facilitate your transition.
