  • Representation of an Asian power company in connection with disputes arising out of the construction of a 1200 MW combined cycle power plant in an Asian country. The disputes involved potential expert determination and ICC arbitration proceedings in a variety of forums under New York law and local law against multiple parties, including government entities and contractors. The disputes concerned a variety of issues including responsibility for delay, contractor’s compliance with scheduling requirements, loss and expense claims, and insurance claims.


  • Representation of an Italian power company in international arbitration proceedings under the ICC rules against a joint venture between Italian and German construction companies arising out of a dispute relating to the construction of a biomass-fired power plant in Italy.


  • Representation of a U.S. power company in connection with several disputes arising out of the interpretation and operation of a concession agreement concerning a 192 MW power plant in a Middle Eastern country. The disputes involve multiple expert determination proceedings, local arbitration proceedings and ICC arbitration proceedings in London against a government entity under local law.


  • Representation of a German-led contractor joint venture in an ad hoc UNCITRAL arbitration in Paris against a Middle-Eastern owner. The opponent’s national law applied and English was the language of the arbitration. The contractor sought damages in multiple claims arising from a FIDIC-style contract for the construction of an international airport with a contract price of approximately U.S.$ 390 million.


  • Representation of a U.S. power company in connection with disputes arising out of the construction of a 427.36 MW combined cycle power plant in the Middle East. The disputes involved potential expert determination and ICC arbitration proceedings in a variety of forums under English and local law against both government entities and contractors. Issues included responsibility for delay, defective design, contractor’s compliance with scheduling requirements and loss and expense claims.


  • Representation of a U.S. power company in connection with disputes against a contractor arising out of the construction of a 750 MW combined cycle power plant and 40 MIGD desalination facility in the Middle East. The disputes involved potential expert determination and arbitration proceedings concerning a variety of issues including responsibility for delay, alleged force majeure, and defective design.


  • Representation of a U.S. bank and a European bank in a LCIA arbitration in London against U.S. insurance companies arising out of a political risk claim. The law governing the insurance policy was English law.


  • Representation of an international chemical company in a LCIA arbitration in London against a US energy company concerning multiple disputes arising out of a stock purchase agreement.


  • Advising a U.S. oil exploration company regarding a potential ICC arbitration in London against a Nigerian company arising out of a dispute concerning a Joint Operating Agreement.


  • Representation of Japanese company in an AAA mediation in London against a U.S. entity concerning an alleged breach of a commercial agreement. Japanese law applied.


  • Representation of a U.S. corporation in an ICC arbitration in London against a local supplier in connection with a telecommunications project in the Middle East. New York law applied.


  • Representation of an African gas supplier in a UNCITRAL arbitration in London against a U.S. entity concerning alleged breaches of gas supply and shipping agreements.


  • Representation of a US ship owner in arbitration proceedings in London under the 1996 Arbitration Act against a Norwegian Company.


  • Advising a U.S. power company in relation to potential arbitration proceedings against a South American government under a bilateral investment treaty.


  • Representation of a U.S. shareholder in a joint venture for the construction of a coal fired power plant in India in relation to liability for damages arising out of the winding up of the joint venture company.
