Abigail Bortnick is an associate with the Special Matters and Government Investigations Practice Group in King & Spalding’s Washington, D.C., office. Ms. Bortnick focuses primarily on white collar criminal litigation, government investigations and corporate internal investigations.

Ms. Bortnick earned her undergraduate degree, magna cum laude, in the Honors Program at the University of Maryland, College Park. She graduated, cum laude, from the University of Maryland School of Law where she competed nationally with the Trial Team and was a member of the Moot Court Board. Ms. Bortnick is a member of the Maryland state bar, United States District Court of Maryland, and the District of Columbia bar.

Representative Experience

  • Assisting in the preparation of a pharmaceutical company’s response to grand jury subpoenas in multiple jurisdictions.


  • Participating in a corporate internal investigation of a Fortune 500 company facing allegations by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, Department of Justice, and Internal Revenue Service.


  • Assisting in the preparation of presentations to the United States Attorney’s Office in response to an investigation of a pharmaceutical company for potential off-label promotion.


  • Assisting in the individual representation of a Fortune 500 executive during an investigation as well as preparing the individual for interview sessions with government officials.
