J.C. Boggs Named Lawyer of the Year by the RNLA

11 Sep 2012
RECOGNITION
WASHINGTON, September 11, 2012 — J. Caleb (J.C.) Boggs, III, has been chosen as the 2012 lawyer of the year by the Republican National Lawyers Association. Boggs will receive the award at a special event honoring him at The Capitol Hill Club on October 10. Boggs is a partner in the government advocacy and public policy practice of King & Spalding, in Washington, D.C.

Boggs has more than two decades of experience in law, politics and public policy. He has broad experience representing corporate, trade association and non-profit clients before Congress and the executive branch on matters impacting financial services, tax, privacy and information security, e-commerce, homeland security, international trade and political law. He is a past president and a member of the board of governors of the Republican National Lawyers Association.

His extensive experience and effective representation of clients before the legislative and executive branches have earned Boggs recognition as a leader in government relations law: Chambers USA has named him "one of the most proficient attorneys on the scene."

In 2009, President George W. Bush appointed Boggs to a six-year term as representative to the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes, an agency of the World Bank and leading international arbitration institution devoted to investor-State dispute settlement. He is a former counsel to the U.S. Senate Committee on Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs and the Senate Committee on Governmental Affairs, including the Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations. In addition to a successful public policy practice, Boggs has served on numerous non-profit boards, including that of his alma mater, Kimball Union Academy, where he was board secretary and chairman of the committee on trustees. In 2010, he established the J. Caleb Boggs Scholarship for Public Service at the University of Delaware, in honor of his grandfather and namesake, former Delaware Governor and United States Senator, J. Caleb Boggs.
