PRESS RELEASE

HOUSTON, July 30, 2012 – Consistent with its ongoing support of diversity and education efforts worldwide, King & Spalding partnered with the PFLAG-HATCH Youth Scholarship Foundation to support the organization’s 2012 campaign.

The PFLAG-HATCH Youth Scholarship Foundation is one of the nation’s largest providers of college support for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) youth. Each year, it awards scholarships to Houston-area high school and college students who demonstrate academic excellence, leadership and involvement in the community, as well as financial need. In 2012, the organization awarded a total of $85,000 in scholarships to 37 students.

The King & Spalding scholarship was awarded to Michael Sell, a junior accounting major at the University of Houston. Houston counsel Todd Amdor presented the scholarship to Sell at a ceremony held July 1.

King & Spalding has a long tradition of promoting greater diversity within the firm and throughout the legal profession. King & Spalding has consistently earned high marks in MultiCultural Law magazine's list of "Top Law Firms for Diversity" and received a rating of 90 percent in the Corporate Equality Index 2012—a report card on lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) equality in corporate America.
