WASHINGTON, July 17, 2012 – Frederick H. Degnan, a partner in King & Spalding’s FDA and life sciences practice in Washington, D.C., has been chosen to deliver the keynote address at the Institute of Food Technologists’ 2012 Food Policy Impact Conference to be held in Arlington, Va., on December 6. Degnan will review 2012 food policy issues and discuss their short- and long-term impacts.
The one-day annual conference is designed for professionals involved in food laws and regulations. It will provide updates on current and emerging food policy, and regulatory compliance issues, including:
- Updates from government officials who develop policy and guidance documentation
- Analysis of global food policy standards
- Commentary around the Food Safety Modernization Act Rulemakings

Degnan specializes in food law and handles an array of food safety, biotechnology, good manufacturing practice and labeling for large multinational food companies, domestic food producers and international science-based nonprofit associations. He formerly spent more than 11 years in the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s office of the chief counsel and served as associate chief counsel for foods and for enforcement. Degnan is resident in King & Spalding’s Washington office.
