MIAMI, September 17, 2010 — In conjunction with the release of its annual guide to leading law firms in Latin America, Chambers and Partners has selected King & Spalding to receive the 2010 Chambers Latin America Award for Excellence for international arbitration. The firm received the honor on September 16 at an event in Miami Beach, Florida.
This is the second award that King & Spalding’s international arbitration practice has received from Chambers and Partners this year. In June, the firm was recognized as the leading international arbitration firm in the United States by Chambers USA.
“We congratulate the international arbitration team on this significant achievement,” said Robert D. Hays, Jr., chairman of King & Spalding. “Chambers’ recognition of the firm as the leading international arbitration practice in both the United States and Latin America affirms the stellar reputation of the practice and its lawyers.”
Chambers’ extensive research process combines thousands of unbiased and professional research interviews carried out for by a team of more than 50 full-time researchers, with an evaluation of each lawyer’s significant legal achievements.
King & Spalding’s international arbitration practice has more than 40 lawyers residing in nine of the firm’s offices. A world leader in foreign investment arbitration and international commercial arbitration, the practice has represented clients in all the world’s principal arbitration venues. To further serve its clients in two of the world’s leading arbitration markets, the firm established a Paris office in 2009 and, just last month, announced its plan to open an office in Singapore. The international arbitration group’s experience includes disputes involving energy, healthcare/pharmaceuticals, intellectual property, the environment, construction, joint venture, technology, telecommunications, finance, insurance and real estate. These disputes have had collective stakes exceeding $10 billion.
