Ken Sonnenfeld to Speak at UC Berkeley on Patentable Subject Matter

New York intellectual property partner Ken Sonnenfeld will be a featured speaker March 17 at the Berkeley Center for Law and Technology’s Patentable Subject Matter Workshop in Berkeley, Calif. The following topics are expected to be addressed:

  • Interpretation of Section 101 of the Patent Act (including legislative history and jurisprudence leading up to and following the Mayo, Myriad, and Alice cases)
  • The emerging lower court case law
  • The effects of patentable subject matter on particular industry sectors—notably diagnostics and computer software
  • Legislative proposals relating to patentable subject matter (and related topics)
