King & Spalding Advises Brookfield on Agreement with Microsoft to Power Data Centers With Over 10 GWs of Renewable Energy

King & Spalding advised Brookfield on a five-year agreement provides a pathway for Brookfield to deliver to Microsoft over 10.5 gigawatts of new renewable energy capacity between 2026 and 2030 across the U.S. and Europe. The expected delivery of capacity under the agreement is almost eight times larger than the largest corporate PPA ever signed. The agreement provides Microsoft with access to a pipeline of new renewable energy capacity that will support Microsoft’s growing cloud services business, and at a scale that will contribute to the decarbonization of the grid and accelerate the global shift to renewable energy solutions within the cloud industry. The agreement is not limited to wind and solar projects, but also allows Brookfield to offer Microsoft capacity from new or impactful carbon free energy generation technologies.
